SERVICES
We have developed 3-D models composed of human, veterinary or insect cell lines. We strive to develop the models with normal
(non-transformed) primary cell lines obtained from commercial sources or developed from in-house proprietary cell lines.
We collaborate with commercial sources providing a number of relevant cell lines. In those cases where cell lines are not commercially available, we will contact commercial sources to acquire IRB/IACUC approved cells.
Additionally, in some projects within the greater Houston area, we have acquired non-commercially available tissue according to IRB and IACUC approved protocols. Relevant cells have isolated from the targeted in vivo tissue. These cells have then been propagated, characterized and utilized in the model development.
What we do:
Cell Systems 3-D scientists, in collaboration with an investigator, will design a prototype 3-D in vitro model unique to the investigator's requirements. Cells are acquired, propagated and the actual 3-D model is engineered using Good Tissue Practices (GTP). Within this development process, all media and addidatives are catalogued by lot number and source. Daily logs are established for cell viability, propagation dynamics and nutritional requirements. At defined time points, aliquots of organoid tissue are evaluated by histology and immunohistochemistry for histoarchitecture and expression of developmental markers. If the
parameters of the investigation require gene expression data, we can isolate cellular RNA for the development of a cDNA library.
